I bought this compilation from spillers for like three or four quid,
amazing value from the californian punk label fat wreckchords. Some
of the best bands in modern punk are on this album, Tilt, Rancid,
Lagwagon and No use for a name etceteraaaahaha.
The cover is black and white with a rather jolly plump couple jigging
about as to a charleston, boobs everywhere, skip the light fandangooo.
moosic is faast and sharp for the most part, proper tight as even the
local underground bands from round here (South Wales) such as No
Choice and Gung Ho. Who says that because a band is not known outside
of the underground that htey are not incredible.
Favourite tracks are the ones by Bracket Tilt and NoFx although they
are all epitomous of what no frills hard as nails yet sweet punk
should be, all for the music and the caring ethos, you might say this
is not punk but they are lovely mun.
Rak 005 by Bracket is a stupendous song, pumping palm muted guitars,
dirty licks, confusing lyrics and lots of cool variation in brasseric
timbre. It is a love song with as please be my alibi and I’m confused
is the jist.
Tilt Weave and Unravel has awesome girly vocals, more softly spoken
and melodious than the others, wonder whether they were tilting
towards weaving some knitting. If you like blondie you’d love this
band, ooo.
